What is in the hole...Side of house in brick, England

A pair of scissors sitting on my table (formica top) suddenly burst into flames. No heat source, electricity, or battery nearby. No contact with anything but the table. I suspect some sort of chemical reaction between the handles and the table occurred. Any ideas?

Had a pretty frustrating situation with my landlord today.

He showed up with no notice, entered my place, and immediately started talking about eviction because of how the unit looked. No warning, no opportunity to prepare — just showed up and made a judgment on the spot.

Now he’s claiming “unsafe conditions” and lease violations and saying I have 5 days to leave. From everything I understand, that’s not how eviction works, and there are clear legal requirements around notice and process.

It feels like he’s overstepping and assuming he can do whatever he wants because he’s the landlord.

Has anyone dealt with something similar? How did you handle a no-notice visit or sudden eviction threat?

When I was a kid, I remember my mom (born in the 1920's) use to sprinkle borax all over our carpets (wall to wall) every month or so, she would let it sit for a good while and then vacuum it up. She said it kept bugs away. She passed away well into her 90's. We never had bugs, and I'm never sick that often... Maybe that explains it.
