"Tired of getting lost in Facebook?" 10 ways to taking control (time management, goal setting, tracking your progress)

When you first look at it, it would appear that positive thinking and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) have nothing to do with one another.

Many people that have ADD develop negative thinking patterns when they become frustrated by challenges and frequently feeling overwhelmed.

This negative outlook, however, makes it even harder to manage those challenges and move forward.

The practice of positive thinking allows people with ADD to focus on strengths and accomplishments, which increases happiness and motivation, Rather than getting lost in all the flashiness of Facebook.

This allows people to spend more time making progress, and less time feeling down and stuck.

The following suggestions provide tips that you can use to help you shift into more positive thinking patterns.

Suggestions as follows

1. Take Great Physical Care of Yourself

It's much easier to be positive and happy when you are exercising, eating right and getting adequate rest.

2. Place a Poster To Remind Yourself What You Are Grateful For

Challenges will not stress you quite as bad when you are constantly reminding yourself of the things that are going great in life.

Taking just one minute a day to appreciate the good things going in your life will make a tremendous difference.

3. How Do You Know They Don’t Like You? Oh You Assumed! Get Proof. Ask Them!

A fear of not being accepted sometimes leads us to assume that we know what others are thinking (if you have low self esteem), but often times not the case.

If you think that a friend or family member's ill mood is due to something you did, or a co-worker is secretly gossiping about you when you turn your back, speak up and ASK them.

Spend time finding solutions to existing problems not looking for new ones.

4. Refrain from Using Absolutes In Daily Speech.

Have you ever told someone "You're ALWAYS late!"? Perhaps you complained to a friend "You NEVER call me!"

Thinking and speaking in absolutes like 'always' and 'never' makes the situation appear much worse than it really is.

It also programs your brain into believing that certain people will continuously let you down.

5. Separate Yourself From Negative Thoughts

Your thoughts will hold power over you if YOU let them. If you notice yourself having a negative thought, take notice, But don't follow it.

6. Smash the "ANTs"

In the book "Change Your Brain, Change Your Life," Dr. Daniel
Amen talks about "ANTs" - Automatic Negative Thoughts.

These are thoughts that are usually reactionary or defensive, like "Those people are laughing, they must be talking about me," or "The manager wants to see me right away?
It must be bad!"

When you take notice of these thoughts, realize that they are nothing more than ANTs and Smash them!

7. Practice Lovin', Touchin' & Squeezin' (Your Friends and Family)

You don't have to be an expert to know the benefits of a giant hug.

Positive physical contact with friends, and loved ones, is an instant way to sooth.

One research study Years ago had a waitress touch some of her customers on the arm and bump legs with them as she handed them their checks.

She received higher tips from repeat customers than from the ones she didn't physically touch!

8. Increase Your Social Activity

Increasing social activity improves your social health, and you decrease loneliness as well as stress. Surround yourself with healthy, and happy people.

Ever went out even though you didn’t feel like it, and you were around a lot of positive people? Did their energy affect you in a positive way?

9. Volunteer for an Organization, Help another Person, or Some Other Selfless Activity

Everyone has higher self esteem after helping someone in need. You can volunteer your time, your money, or your resources.

The more positive energy give the world, the more you will receive in return.

10. Understand Why You Keep Coming Back To Negative Thoughts

If you find yourself focused on something negative, a great way to stop it is to change your thought pattern and force yourself to do something completely different.

Focusing on something negative is never productive, because it's not rational or solution-oriented.
It's just excessive worry.

If you simply can’t help it go for a walk or sit outside.

You could also call a close friend, read a book, or turn on some classical music.(No hard rock. You will move to a more destructive stage of just not caring.)
