David Schechter
Do you like a good argument?
I’m David Schechter, a reporter at CBS News. I’m working on a new project where I take two people — with very different views — on an adventure to understand how two honest people can see the same thing and reach different conclusions.
As part of this journey we'll even go back to the founding of our country and explore if we’ve always been this divided about truth and facts.
If this sounds like something you — or someone you know — would be interested in, take the quick survey and tell me a little about yourself.

A few quick notes:
- We’re looking for “regular people,” not politicians or professional pundits.
- CBS News will cover the cost of travel and expenses.
- This isn’t about singing kumbaya -- or pretending every opinion is equal. It’s a fact finding mission. And we’re going to do it with respect. Listening, even when we don’t agree.

As a kid, driving down from Northern Michigan at the end of summer there was often at least one tree already changing colors in late August. Today, I look forward to December days in Texas, like this one, where our ginkgo tree drops all its leaves in just a day, or two.

Howdy. This week I had a great time as a guest on D Magazine’s Earburner Podcast with Tim Rogers and Zac Crain. Spoiler… we talked about my legs. Like, a lot.

More than $1.7 billion dollars. That's how much local governments have deposited in banks. Some say it's time to explore how well those banks lend to low-income and minority communities if they want to keep those deposits to keep flowing.
