As she entered the door the young girl excitedly asked, "Did you talk to Toby yet? Did you tell him I said 'Hi'?" Dr. Kuhlmann replied that she hadn't spoken to him but if she did, she would tell him "Hi" from his biggest fan. After that visit, a couple of phone calls were made, emails were exchanged, and two days later, Toby Keith was on the phone with the little girl. Spending no money and very little time, Dr. Kuhlmann was able to brighten the little girl's day and give her an experience she will always remember. The concept for Face 2 Face was inspired by that experience. It is designed to launch a national program that allows sick or disabled children and youth to not only talk to their celebrity hero, but also see them face-to-face. An experience that would have been next to impossible for the vast majority of children even a few years ago, is now accessible through low cost or free online consumer video conferencing services, including Skype, Face Time, Messenger, and others. Because the face-to-face visit is remote, it allows big hearted celebrities with busy schedules a very realistic way to reach out to those who are hurting—and letting them share face-to-face in the joy and excitement they bring to the children with whom they are chatting.
