To say she has done great things in golf in Oklahoma is an understatement.

This girl just keeps grinding and grinding and grinding. Someone tells her she can’t, she works harder. Injury, she works harder. Frustration mounts, she works harder. She’s a special student, a special talent, a special person. She never lost her faith in me, her faith in herself, but most importantly, her faith in God’s plan for her. One lucky guy to have her call me coach for the last 10 years! Looking forward to final 2 years of college golf and then we will see where the journey takes us. Let’s keep it up!! doesn’t begin to describe how I feel!!

I am beyond excited, honored, and humbled to announce that I was informed this morning that I made the Golf Digest 2017-2018 Best Teachers in Texas list. This award means so much because it is voted on by my peers and to know I have their respect is amazing. I don't know exactly where on the list of the top 20-30 in Texas I will fall, but to be mentioned in the same company of so many of the other names I know will be on that list is humbling.

We came to Texas because I knew to be the best, I had to learn from the best. And I have been lucky enough to do just that. Thank you to Hank, Steve, and Tim for all of the time they spent teaching me this craft. And thanks to the great teachers I have been lucky enough to work next to.

This award equally belongs to my family, my students, and their families. I couldn't do this without any of you there to support, love, and push me to be better. There is still a long way to go, but it is important to cherish these things along the journey.

Congrats to student Sydney Youngblood on another solid tournament for OU at their annual Schooner Fall Invitational. Syd posted rounds of 72-76-69 to help the 10th ranked Sooners finish in 5th place in one of the best fields in women's college golf. One of the coolest parts was getting to watch a few holes of today's final round on Fox Sports Southwest! Here she is making the traditional "OU" sign to teammates and fans after making her birdie on #18!

Another exciting day as Brett Permann heads off to start her career at Central Arkansas! The past 5 years have been so fun to watch as she has matured into a great golfer, but more importantly, another amazingly strong young lady, powered by her faith. Never once had to ask her to do something twice, battled through some low points, stayed humble in the high times, and never lost her desire to improve. Have grown to look at her as one of my own, both on and off the course (hey, I gotta practice for when Addee starts talking to boys!!). And as you can tell, she's the Selfie Queen! Very proud of you and can't wait to see you shine as a Bear!
