Well … looks like the cat is out of the bag…..me being the Cat!

We are finally BACK where we belong! Dallas Market Center♥️♥️‼️🙏. What a journey it’s been! There’s been so much going on behind the scenes to pull this off in a relatively short span of time! Here’s the shortened version of our story…..

It all started back in 1991…..I was a stay at home wife that got really bored so a friend suggested I start making jewelry. I did and it was a hit! So! I opened the smallest showroom there was in Americasmart right near where we live in Georgia! We expanded 3 times over a 16 year period and loved it!!! I ended up going separate ways with the business and got remarried.

I stopped working altogether to have our boys ( they are now 18 and 19 years old! ) but then in 2010 I started sewing funky tote bags just for fun. I called this new business Cat’s Carpet Bags. My husband suggested I get back in the game so we started doing traveling shows. We got up to doing 30 shows per year!! It was crazy!

I started to design my own line of upcycled hand dyed lace clothing so I wanted to start a whole new chapter for the business and I changed the name to Gypsy South!

At our shows, after Mr. Gypsy South and the boys set my booth up, they explored whatever town we were in and had fun until it was time to take the booth down! So our boys grew up in “the business”

We used to set up in the temps at Market Hall ( Dallas) and Americasmart! Then Covid hit. I started making jewelry again instead of the Upcycled clothing. And now we are strictly
wholesale.

Fast forward to 2025 and I started reminding Mr. Gypsy South that we agreed to get a showroom in Dallas Market Center after both boys graduated high school. We signed the papers one month before our youngest graduated! I asked both boys if they would give us one year in the showroom to see how they like it and to see how they do in this part of the family business and they agreed.

We have gotten through one show so far (last week) as a team in the showroom and the boys have caught on quicker than I thought !! It’s been so much fun seeing them in action. We start the gift show on Tuesday and I can hardly wait! It’s been amazing for me to be back and seeing old friends and putting faces to so many that I’ve texted with!❤️

Our patriotic sold out when she showed it a few days ago but we sent all the Preauths out on Friday! I just couldn’t put a decent collection together this year with our youngest graduating from high school and everything that goes along with that. I’ll make up for it next year!
