A month ago today I lost my best friend. Words cannot express how much I love and miss my Dad. Everybody knows I’m a Daddy’s girl. My Dad was the most loving and caring person in the world! He loved his family deeply, poured selflessly into his community, strongly valued education and was always willing to fill in the gap wherever he was needed.

Growing up in Dallas there weren’t too many places I could go where people didn’t know my Dad. I would always get asked “Are you Mr. Holland’s daughter?” and I was always proud to say yes! I couldn’t get away with much, but I saw first hand how strong his village was. That’s because he was a pillar! When I reflect on my Fathers life, I can’t help but feel the push to do more. He taught me about the power of service, and what it means to be the kind of person others can lean on. He taught me how to be an example, how to love people and to always lean on God no matter what!

One of the last conversations I had with my Dad in person was him telling me how proud of me he was and that he did a good job raising me. Truth is, I was 1,000 times more proud of him. He never gave up even when times got really hard, he stayed strong until the end. Dad, you fought the good fight and made huge waves. Take your rest. You are free. l love you and will miss you deeply, until we meet again ❤️‍🩹❤️🙏🏾
