People assume design starts with furniture. For me, it almost always starts with fabric.
A swatch of the right linen, a wallpaper sample, a rug with just the right amount of pattern — that's usually the piece that unlocks the whole room. Once I know the fabric story, the paint color, the finishes, the furniture silhouettes all start to fall into place.
It's a small detail most people never think about, but it's the difference between a room that feels curated and one that feels like it was assembled from a catalog.
That's the process behind every project I take on — start with what feels right, then build the rest of the room around it.

A room always feels more interesting when something in it has a story.
That's why I love sourcing vintage pieces, especially from Round Top. They bring age, texture, character, and a little bit of mystery into a space. (And with less than 100 days until the fall show, it's not too early to start planning.)
Not everything in a home should feel brand new. The best rooms have a mix — old and new, polished and imperfect, refined and a little unexpected.
That's what makes a home feel collected instead of copied.
