Spring season brings with it plenty of rainfall, cancelled games and a yard that never seems to dry out. This weekend, we were in Roanoke to help an awesome family with drainage issues between 2 neighbors’ homes. The customer did not want catch basins in the yard. The solution? A “blind” French drain. Drainage pipe and rock are wrapped in a soil separator to allow the debris to stay out of the pipes, while allowing the water to seep in and drain away to a pop-up valve. This technique also allows the water to seep in over a wide area, as compared to catch basins that only collect the water that flows to them.
