Teaching kids about photography is a great way to help them develop a genuine interest and appreciation for what’s going on around them. When your child has a camera to play with during a family vacation, you don’t just get a second set of vacation photos taken with a fresh new set of eyes—you also have a child who is less bored and, ultimately, more engaged.

Here's a photo I shot with an iPhone of the sun and overhead tree canopy reflected in a puddle on a gravel path. I thought it ended up looking like a starry night photo of an island in a lake.
