Larry Rushing Mustangs

UPDATE ON FLASH AND ODAKOTA:
Flash has made it to her new home and reports to loving it. She called Odakota and told him that her new “Hoomans” were really cool and seemed to really enjoy having her around. She told him that she was learning new things all the time. She related that it was difficult to learn to trust “Hoomans” at all but when she did, it seemed to be pretty good. Now, she has found out even more “Hoomans” were ok too. She told him they were calling her something different to “Flash.” They called her “Firefly.” She said she really liked her new name and that her “Hoomans” were great. This, she said, was getting really good. She told him that she missed her old herd, but that she now had some new friends and they were really neat. There were young mustangs and mini horses and all kinds of other animals. She thought it was really neat to learn all about them. As they talked, they discovered they did not live too far apart and agreed to get together sometime to renew their relationship.
Odakota told her that he had to pull out all the stops to talk Larry and Sandi into letting him stay. He told her he knew that if he had gone to another family that said they wanted him it would have meant a good sum of money to them for having brought him along so far. But he said he just couldn’t imagine being with another family. He told Flash that he had promised to even let Larry climb up on him if he could stay. He told her that he was having to pay for premature promises. Odakota said he did not realize that he was going to have so much lard climb up on him. He said he hasn’t complained to Larry, but his back aches after he gets off. But he says, he made a bargain and was sticking to it. He told her that he even let Larry put a bosal and saddle on him today. He said that really felt weird. He didn’t act up (just like he promised) but it was STRANGE! He said he actually liked it better when Larry just climbed up on him when he didn’t have a halter or anything on. He told her that he could just move around and he kind of got a massage as his rider’s legs rubbed on him and he said he got kind of a backrub too as he moved about. He told her it wasn’t so bad, so don’t be afraid if someone did that with her. She quickly reminded him that she had already worn a saddle. Odakota laughed and said “Oh yeah, I remember. They had a wonderful conversation.
Now to me! Odakota has been all that he promised and we are building our relationship daily. It is really great to have a horse that trusts you and it is really great to have a horse you can trust. He is even having a good influence on Pogo and our relationship is growing. We are going to have to go back to some basics to rebuild the proper relationship, but she is more willing now than ever.
The boys (Star and Buckshot) are doing well also. Both boys are growing and are now as tall as Odakota but have filling out to do to have his size and heft. Buckshot is letting Sandi climb onboard and Star is wearing the saddle. Something seems skewed here, but I’m confident the boys will help me figure it out.
