Resistance vs. Defiance in Eating Disorder Recovery: What Parents Need to Know

If you are supporting a child in eating disorder recovery, this can feel so confusing.

Is this my childโ€ฆ or her/his ED?
Is it resistanceโ€ฆ or defiance?

They can look very similar on the surface, but they are not the same. And how you respond matters more than you might think.

I wrote this to bring some clarity to something I see families struggle with often. You are not doing anything wrong. Sometimes the approach just needs to shift.

If you are in the middle of this, I hope this helps you feel a little more grounded and a little less alone. ๐Ÿ’™

Not too long ago, I shared a post on Instagram about why trusting your body can feel so hard in recovery. The response surprised me. For a more educational post, there was a lot of engagement.

It deserved more space, so I turned that post into a blog.

In it, I talk about interoception, why body cues can feel confusing, and why struggling to trust your body doesnโ€™t mean youโ€™re doing recovery wrong.
