Certainly, we are to be light in the darkness. That is exactly what Jesus did on limited occasions when he might share a meal with some people that were sinners. Most of his ministry was spent in the marketplace, reaching out to others. Certainly prayer at Rock the South is needed. I’m sure many of the people at rock the south are not Christians because Christians should not participate in worldly things.

To some Christians, who might think it is acceptable to attend rock the south, I would suggest that they read the Bible.

Isaiah 5:11-13 (KJV) says, “Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink: that continue until night, till wine inflame them! And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands. Therefore, my people are gone into captivity because they have no
knowledge: and their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.”
The Contemporary English Version says it a little clearer for today’s English. Isaiah 5:11-13 (CEV) says, “You are in for trouble! You get up early to start drinking, and you keep it up late into the night. At your drinking parties you have the music of stringed instruments, tambourines, and flutes. But you never even think about all the LORD has done, and so his people know nothing about him. That is why many of you will be dragged off to foreign lands. Your leaders will starve to death, and everyone else will suffer from thirst.” As the prophet warns, If we don’t find Jesus then the Judgment of the Lord is coming because of sin and ignoring God and his word. Sinners without Jesus are Lost.
Jeremiah the prophet warned the people of God, In Jeremiah 2:13,” For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, which can hold no water.” Sometimes God’s people are drinking out of the wrong fountains, just like the lost by forsaking the Lord and drinking in the sins of the world!
The preceding verses describe the reality of the lost sinful world as well as Christians who are not obeying God and instead drinking out of a waterless fountain. Worldly Christians are drinking out of a mudhole. We should always realize that sinners do what they do because they have not experienced Jesus. Those that are saved and professed Christians should not be participants in music and entertainment that promote sin.

However, the good news is that Jesus helped a woman that had tried all the world offered and who was still thirsty to Know God. The gospel of John describes her as a person who had tried marriage and failed and tried false religions, and other things to try to satisfy the longing and emptiness of her life. Jesus loved her and spoke truth to her at a public well where people came to get water. In the gospel of John 4:13-14, Jesus answered and said unto her, “Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. The woman after receiving Jesus and the living water of salvation left her waterpots at the well and took the well of living water to the entire city. Inside this woman was now the power of the Holy Spirit that changed her forever as well as all the city that received Christ because of her testimony,
This promise is extended to all people today. John 7:37-38 proclaims,” In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, if any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth in me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.” This living water of the Holy Spirit quenches the longing that all of us have inside and gives us life.

As a teenage boy I was depressed and lonely. There were times I felt I had few true friends. Then Jesus filled my soul with God’s power. He satisfied the inner longing of my soul. Since I was 15 years old, I have been singing and preaching about God’s wonderful life-giving power through Jesus. Jesus loves you and he is the answer to all our needs. Ask Jesus for a drink of the living water and you will never thirst again.
Jesus is the Rock that the South really needs.
