With that Cold Weather Advisory runnin’ from 10 o’clock tonight through 9 in the mornin’, it’s one of those evenings where you go on and put an extra log on the fire and make sure everything’s buttoned up tight. When I was growin’ up, nights like this meant Mama would close off a few rooms, Daddy would tend the fireplace before bed, and there was always a pot of coffee or somethin’ warm sittin’ on the stove just in case somebody woke up chilly. We didn’t worry much — we just planned ahead. That’s still good advice tonight. Bring the pets inside, check on your neighbors if you can, and don’t be shy about another blanket or two. It’s one of those ‘slow down, stay warm, and enjoy the quiet’ kind of nights. I’ll be keepin’ warm right here with my coffee, and we’ll all thaw out together once the sun comes up.”
