A belated Happy Father’s Day to all the dads, bonus dads, stepdads, grandfathers, partners, and father figures out there.

I had every intention of posting this over the weekend, but life had other plans. After being knocked down by food poisoning, I was reminded just how important it is to have someone in your corner when things get hard.

As doulas, birth workers, and parents, we often spend so much time focusing on the person giving birth that we forget the incredible support people standing beside them. The new dads learning as they go. The seasoned dads who have walked this road before. The bonus dads who chose to love children as their own. The grandfathers, uncles, brothers, friends, and partners who show up with steady hands, open hearts, and unwavering support.

Being a father isn’t just about biology. It’s about presence. It’s about showing up. It’s about holding space when someone needs strength, offering comfort when things feel uncertain, and being a safe place to land.

Whether you’re supporting a partner through pregnancy, birth, parenthood, or simply showing up for the people you love every day, your role matters.

Thank you to all the men who nurture, protect, encourage, and love. The world needs more of that.
