Fun Fact: Why do leaves change color in the fall?

Many plants stop making food in the fall. The chlorophyll goes away. Then we can see orange and yellow colors. These colors were in the leaves all summer, but the green covered them up. Not All Trees Lose Their Leaves. Only certain leaves go through the color-change process each fall. Evergreens are trees that retain their green coloring all year long. These include cedars, pines, firs, and spruces, all of which fall into the conifer family. If you have an evergreen on your property you may need help with upkeep.
