Which Android applications are useful in learning conversational English?
There are thousands of apps for learning English in China; however, I can’t recommend a single one. Why? Because most of these apps are using flashcards and expanded dictionaries assuming that adults can remember the words as translations into the native language. Learning words and phrases against its translation is creating extra steps in your brain. It's making you slow. It makes you think slowly, hear slowly, speak slowly because it reinforces cross-translation to and from their mother tongue. When you cross-translate, you think in your native language while trying to speak in a foreign language. It is not possible.
For centuries foreign language was taught in schools as all other subjects, namely, as information to be remembered. The traditional pedagogy can’t overcome the innate habit of cross-translation and develop a habit of thinking in English. To become fluent in English you need a new type of app based on the pedagogy of subconscious Active Training in English skills with the following features:
• Learn by using comprehensible multimedia input: read the text, listen to a recording of the text, and speak it simultaneously.
• Support in the native language is built-in a mobile application based on Active Learning pedagogy since it ensures a stress-free environment and comprehensible input.
• The mobile application lets learners add to each pre-recorded lesson the material of their own selection by copying and pasting (or manually entering) text and using the text-to-voice robot with nearly human voice quality to perform simultaneous repetition of your own lesson.
You may start training English skills by simply downloading this Android application from this link: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.lbt.ch_full
The Android app lets language learners experience English skills - reading, listening, speaking, and writing - concurrently. The training consists of pronouncing English texts aloud many times while simultaneously reading the text and listening to the recording. The application lets learners share recorded sessions with friends or with a teacher. Three types of texts are used in every lesson.
Learners located in China may download the Android application from this link: http://android.myapp.com/myapp/detail.htm?apkName=com.tencent.tmgp.net.lbt.ch.full&ADTAG=mobile
The application lets learners share recorded sessions with friends or with a teacher. This Android application restores the innate ability of Chinese adults to learn English as a foreign language (EFL) by using subconscious training in English skills. It eliminates the negative effects of prior language-learning experiences and blocks cross-translation by forming direct links between images and the English words describing them.
