Negative self-talk is a hallmark of so many mental health and emotional concerns. It can be present with anxiety, depression, trauma, BPD, Bipolar Disorder, self-esteem issues, self-confidence issues, grief, and many more. It is so prevalent that we begin to believe it is coming from outside of us. The bad news is, it can be persistent and chronic. The good news is our brain has neuroplasticity. Which means you can create new self-talk that is more affirming and reality-based.

Our feelings are important to feel, to identify, to express and to validate. We also have to recognize that our feelings are not always reliable due to subjective factors. If we have experienced trauma, have insecure attachment, low self-worth or esteem, anxiety as well as other impacting factors, using just our feelings for decisions may not be the best course of action. In other words "Just because I feel a way does not mean it is a way". Taking a moment to check in for present moment reality will help, because sometimes when we are triggered are feelings are pulling us to the past. Sometimes we need to 'Fact check our feelings'.

The healing journey is filled with pitfalls, pauses, barriers, and it has no timeline. The path is not linear and it is not always smooth, but it is worth it.
