This was another commission piece. Chris ( ), a woodworker friend and also an employee of Capital University ( ), referred me to complete these wood keepsakes commemorating the inauguration of their 18th President, Dr. Jared R. Tice. They provided me with a 95 # chunk of gray elm that had to be machined into these smaller pieces and etched with the seal and commemorative information. After working past all the natural "defects" in the original lumber, I was able to deliver 225 pieces. A week ago, when I first posted this piece in progress, I mentioned that the design in the bottom of the bowl would match part of the design in the wall. I'm just about 1/2 way done - almost 1800 pieces - and I have just completed the first set of 4 copies of that pattern.
