Today's marks the 50th anniversary of the first opening day of ski season at Wintergreen.
Interestingly 2025 was one of the best ski seasons yet.
Here's a webpage and recording form an event they had last January to begin a year of celebration during 2025. My friend Ellen English (chef at the Trillium House back in the day, and catered the Friday night dinner when G and I got married) is one speaker. There are several others you may recognize.
How and why Wintergreen is different: The perspective after 50 years — Wintergreen Property Owners Association Wintergreen Resort opened for skiing on December 20, 1975. Of the 16 speakers at the program on January 11, 2025, who shared their memories of Wintergreen over the last 50 years, three talked about how the resort’s beginnings have shaped what the resort community has become today.
