🚧 BIG changes are happening at U.S. 33 & Pickerington Rd.... And here's the update!
If you’ve driven through this area and wondered what all the heavy construction is for... AND how long it's going to last....
This is part of a massive $51.3 MILLION ODOT infrastructure project that will completely transform the corridor over the next few years.
The project includes:
▪️ A new full interchange at U.S. 33 & Pickerington Rd
▪️ New ramps, bridges, and connector roads
▪️ Railroad crossing improvements
▪️ Traffic flow and safety upgrades
▪️ Closure/removal of certain direct access points, including Allen Rd access to U.S. 33
Construction officially began in 2025 and is currently expected to continue through Summer 2028.
Right now, crews are in the major groundwork phase; grading, drainage installation, utility work, and preparing the area for future bridge and ramp construction. Seeing the amount of infrastructure already going into the ground really shows how large this project actually is.
This is also another sign of how rapidly the southeast Columbus/Fairfield County corridor continues to grow. Development, traffic, and population increases in areas like Pickerington, Canal Wi******er, and Violet Township are driving major long-term infrastructure investments like this one.
Love construction or hate it… this area is changing FAST. 🏗️🚗
