A New Painting
One of my favorite backpacking locations is Nordhouse Dunes on Lake Michigan. It’s a short hike to the lake. First seeing the lake from the lush forest makes me feel like a sea voyager discovering new land. First you smell the lake and hear the waves crashing as you get closer. A minute later you see one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. In my opinion of course. Lake Michigan is one of the last natural beauties with no concrete or buildings. Just some of Gods best creative work. I love it. Unfortunately, we can’t visit this haven often. I hope this painting serves as a peaceful reminder for you of the beauty of the area.

This painting is done in a very loose and free flowing, painterly style. I didn’t want it to look like a photography. There are plenty of those. Rather, I visioned it taking you to the spot, seeing enough detail to know exactly what it is, and at the same time giving you an original fine art oil painting.
