benchpress, 600.8 pound (272 kg) deadlift and 1334 pound (603.75 kg) total at the 2015 USAPL Raw National Powerlifting Championships. His 600.8 pound (272 kg) deadlift also garnered him an American record. He also holds national records in the United Powerlifting Association (UPA) with a 501 pound (226.5 kg) squat, 595 pound (269 kg) deadlift and 1359 pound (615 kg) total. On March 16, 2015, two days after USAPL Military National Powerlifting Championships, the first competition of the year, he was diagnosed with stage 2 prostate cancer. Instead of shutting down and beginning treatment; he worked closely with his doctors at the VA Medical Center to draw up a plan that would allow him to finish out the season. He then went on to compete in an unprecedented seven competitions in as many months without incident. On December 15, 2015, he underwent a radical prostatectomy resulting in the successful removal of 100% of the cancer.
