The Friends of Counterpoint now number some 600 people and their continuing support of the group is one of the main reasons for the choir's large audiences. Each 'friend' is emailed before a performance and this remains the primary form of advertising that the choir uses. The choir performs 5-6 times a year at Buckfast Abbey and Exeter Cathedral. They have released 5 CDs and performed on television for the BBC, ITV and Sky and also on radio for the BBC, Classic FM and Phonic FM. Counterpoint visit Brittany every two years and have also performed in Normandy and Picardy. Other venues have included Bath Abbey, Truro Cathedral, Wi******er Cathedral, The English Rivera Conference Centre in Torquay, The Queen's Theatre in North Devon and a wide variety of churches and chapels in Devon, Cornwall and Somerset. In September of 2007 the choir formed the Counterpoint Exeter Cathedral Choir Bursary Fund with a donation of £2,000. The fund has been put in place to raise money specifically to support the girl and boy choristers. This form of support is used in assisting with fees when required, or in helping with the general welfare and lifestyle of the boys and girls. A concert is held each May in the Cathedral and all the proceeds go to the Head Master of the School. In 2008, on Saturday 17th May, Counterpoint were joined by Michael Chance and the instrumental ensemble Divertimento and the concerts so far have included Messiah, Bach's St John Passion, Spem in alium and The Coronation of King George II. This year, 2012, we are performing Mozart's Requiem and Lauridsen's Lux aeterna, together with a premiere performance in the South West of Ola Gjeilo's Sanctus.
