Carpenter bees may look harmless, but their damage adds up fast. They bore perfectly round, half-inch holes straight into wood — eaves, fascia boards, decks, siding, you name it — to build galleries where they nest and lay eggs. One tunnel can run several inches deep, and females often return to expand the same gallery year after year, weakening the wood from the inside out.

Left untreated, that damage attracts woodpeckers looking for larvae (adding a second layer of destruction), invites moisture in that leads to rot, and can compromise the structural integrity of wood over time. What starts as a few small holes can turn into costly repairs.
