Together with the Association of Zoos and Aquariums, the Gorilla SSP serves the 52 accredited zoos housing gorillas in North America. Working closely with respected professionals in the field, the SSP provides help and guidance to zoos housing gorillas. Together, zoos and the SSP seek to provide the best possible environment for these amazing animals.

We’re headed to the San Francisco Zoo today for our first of 4 birthday celebrations! This lovely lady is Bawang, and today is her 46th birthday! Originally born at the Cincinnati Zoo, Bawang moved to San Fran in 1981 and hasn’t left! We hope your birthday was fit for the queen you are and were spoiled with the rest of the troop!
