Music has the power to take us on a journey. In his painting, S5M3 Inmigrante, Danté Rodriguez presents a narrative depicting an abstracted figure moving forward through the circular threads of life’s obstacles. He wrote of the third movement that he felt a “slow heavy progression, a somber mood that made me think of immigrants making the long arduous journey to a new life.” The painting, incorporating Sonata #5, is part of a larger body of Rodriguez’s work which explores cultural identity and the movement of people across borders.
