​While a jury in Adams County just ruled against Detective Brian Newland and other deputies in their lawsuit against Afroman, it seems the Norwood Police Department is already "welcoming" their new hire with a bit of office humor.
​Reports have surfaced that a photo of the artist Afroman was placed on Detective Newland’s computer as a prank by fellow officers. While the department might see this as a joke, the facts surrounding Newland's departure from Adams County are anything but funny:
​* The Trial: On March 18, 2026, a jury rejected the deputies' claims against Afroman, effectively protecting the artist's right to highlight police conduct.
​The Missing Cash: During the trial, Newland admitted under oath to a "miscount" of $400 in cash seized during the 2022 raid on Afroman's home.
​Community Trust: For a department to treat a lawsuit involving civil rights and missing evidence as a punchline raises serious questions about the culture and oversight in Norwood.
​As residents, we deserve to know if the city vetted this hire and if they are taking these documented "miscounts" seriously. Is this the kind of conduct Norwood taxpayers are funding?

​If you want to be outraged, don’t be outraged at your neighbor. Be outraged that the names on the Epstein/Little Saint James list are still being protected by a system that thinks it's untouchable. That’s not a partisan issue; that’s a human one.
