CCM Clarinet Studio

Congratulations to our CCM Wind Symphony and Philharmonia clarinets for their final joint concert of the year! The concert celebrated the United States' 250th anniversary and featured works by American composers! The Wind Symphony performed works by Horne, Gould, Shaw, and Bernstein, and the Philharmonia performed works by Price and Copland. Congratulations to all our students for a wonderful final concert of the 2025-2026 academic year!

Congrats to our DMA student Huai Xuan for her outstanding lecture recital! She presented a guide to performing Berio’s Sequenza IXa and Denisov’s Sonata for Clarinet Solo. Congratulations!!

This past Monday, our clarinet studio held the finals to this year’s Mozart Clarinet Concerto competition! A huge congratulations to the first place winner Joaquin Chávez and alternate finalists Owen Cheung and Zikang Wang!! Each played beautifully with their own musicality shining through. Thank you Professor Pavel Vinnitsky, Professor Ron Aufmann, Dr. Aik Pung, and Maestro Duo Shen. Joaquin will perform with the CCM Concert Orchestra next season. Congratulations!

Congratulations to Seongjin Kim for his wonderful AD recital! He performed both Brahms Clarinet Sonatas, No. 1 in F Minor and No. 2 in Eb Major. Special thanks to CCM clarinet student Huai Xuan Wu for performing with him on piano! Congratulations!
