perform in a faster-paced, entrepreneurial economy and maintain a competent, confident, and creative approach to building a career. The Illustration Program serves the creative community by offering liberal arts degrees in both a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) and a Bachelor of Arts (BA). The BFA offers a robust sequence of course credits and allows students to take the greatest range of illustration classes for a more specialized and intensive program of study. Columbia College Chicago also offers one of the only BA in Illustration degrees in the country, and is comprised of a balanced selection of courses to study in the major. This leaves ample room for students who would like to pursue interdisciplinary course options, a minor, or even a double major. The Illustration Program at Columbia College Chicago is represented by over 150 undergraduate students and over a dozen teachers. The full-time faculty represents decades of professional experience and is led by author, cartoonist, and illustrator Ivan Brunetti (Associate Professor) and Chris Arnold (Assistant Professor), who holds an MFA in Illustration and works as a commercial illustrator and fine artist. Fred Nelson (Associate Professor), who brings decades of advertising experience and Chris Eliopoulos (Lecturer), who works in film/television and on children’s books, round out the award-winning team of educators. Together, students, faculty and alumni work in harmony in the pursuit of pushing the academic boundaries of illustration to their limits with integrity and originality.
