We would like to wish a belated Happy Birthday to drummer Bernard “Pretty” Purdie, who turned 87 on June 11. George and Bernard collaborated for over 50 years, most recently at George’s annual birthday celebrations at Chicago’s Green Mill. This picture of George and Bernard was taken by photographer Ken Carl at the Green Mill in 2023.

We will try to make amends for our tardiness in celebrating Bernard‘s birthday by posting a couple of musical clips of George and Bernard in a few minutes.
