'Some insight into record label practices. This clip is outdated since album sales, and those revenue numbers, don't exist anymore. Streaming killed the radio star. Artist revenue comes from constant touring while streaming pays cheaper than cheap and musicians have no leverage.
Prince, even with an expansive career, was one of many who were lucky to get signed. Labels today don't take chances on progressive music and sign artists solely on social media numbers.
So new music can't break, budgets to develop artists dried up. WXRT went corporate and won't air local up & comers as they had done for The BoDeans and Smashing Pumpkins. Radio is dead as they only now broadcast auto-tune songs or overplayed old music, and all refuse to air local artists, even WFMT classical.
🎤 Prince Exposes Record Label Secrets 💥 In this rare clip, Prince doesn’t hold back. He calls out the dark truth about record label contracts and warns artists to take control of their music. Short...

I LOVE this clip and music score scroll from "Amadeus."

'Interesting how these lyrics fit into the plot of the movie - genius again…
“Confutatis maledictis" is a Latin phrase meaning "
the cursed/accused having been silenced" or "when the wicked are confounded". Most famously from the Dies Irae sequence in Mozart’s Requiem (1791), it describes the moment of divine judgment where the damned are silenced and consigned to eternal flames, highlighting themes of judgment, fear, and repentance.
Confutatis Amadeus movie plus scrolling music score From Amadeus best clip ever. Mozart's Requiem is one of the most well-known musical compositions in the world, and Confutatis is a very good example of much...
Hey all. YouTube shut down my music artist page without any explanation.
They never pay a penny to me or content rights owners while running in front of all my content for 12 years. This is legal?
My solo guitar of RUSH with over 17,000 views never paid me a penny and I'm certain RUSH' publishing never received any compensation for rights usage as well while they clearly earn ad income for it. This is legal?
They've blocked me from updating my banner art on topic and streaming channels.
I'm not allowed any control about how I am presented online visually on the public.
Doesn't this violate the FCC?
WHERE'S THE INNOVATION IN MODERN MUSIC?
(Not on radio)
I'm reading comments on YouTube for older songs and people complaining there are no longer artists like Carol King and such. Well,... THERE ARE, but they're not being pushed on radio.
Those posted comments are posted by people who listen to music for FREE on YouTube and then they complain when there's no more "good" music.
Record labels don't invest or promote in new artists like they used to. The budgets for lengthy studio time, promotions and radio payola aren't here due to loss of income since people rarely actually PAY for music anymore.
Labels need sensationalism and costly concert tickets to function and feed the unions. There is no criteria for actual talent. It's all about likes and subscriber numbers otherwise they won't even listen.
Or an independent artist has to pay more than $5,000 to retain a greedy publisher or entertainment attorney to even have a chance of their music presented to a label that doesn't care for innovation anyway.
Streaming pays the cheapest and musicians have NO power. Artists earn less than $ 0.001 per listen instead of a record sale.
Many people still won't accept new music as being professional or worthwhile if it's not on the radio from payola or it wins a Grammy after payoffs to the board at NARAS and their selected voting members.
WXRT used to sometimes air innovative music until they were bought-out by corporate that since air only the same old "safe" cheap music playlists
