Summer's here, and Honeycomb wants to spend as much time outdoors as possible! Our work with The Austin Garden Collective and the Cook County Forest Preserve powers ahead.
Led by Austin Garden Collective, volunteers weeded The Garden of Love and replanted tomatoes, cucumbers, chives, onions, kale, and more! Thanks to our fantastic representative from AGC, volunteers learned to identify weeds, transplant various plants, and about what types of plants like to grow in Chicago.
Honeycomb also completed our Work in a Nature Preserve program at the Ted Lechowicz Woods with Forest Preserve District of Cook County. Volunteers made progress removing seed heads from Reed Canary Grass to prevent invasive species from proliferating throughout the woods.
We're looking forward to next month! If you're interested in spending the day volunteering outside with either of these programs, use our website to join!

This past weekend, Honeycomb families came together to create thoughtful, colorful self-care kits for families staying at the Guest House Foundation while a loved one receives treatment. Guest House Chicago offers such unique, compassionate support to families, so we are grateful to have a partnership that brings volunteers from across Chicago together!

Help wanted! Honeycomb DC is looking for extra volunteers this weekend!
We are partnering with La Casa, a 40-unit housing building operated by Friendship Place for our Bring Comfort with Cookies project. Volunteer families will bake cookies, write sweet messages, and deliver them to La Casa on Saturday between 9am and 12pm. Join our team through our website!

Honeycomb DC held its first ever Support Shelter Animals project with Brandywine Valley SPCA last weekend. Honeycomb families prepared pet food supplies for an adoption event, made cat toys, and even met a few kittens!
Thank you, Brandywine Valley SPCA for hosting an incredible event and for your commitment to animal welfare!
