What a beautiful flower
You!
May this flow be like
Water to you
This is your season
Oh, look how you’ve grown through the drought
I’ve seen your power
Rose from concrete
Judged by your thorns
How people be swarming
Around you
The sweetest thing
Delicate but strong
Small but might to the eye
Soft on the nose
Soothing to ears
You bloom when it rains you gain
Even in off season
You still worth picking
Out, to gather
You grew from dirt
Even when they buried you
In the dark your beauty shined through
Or your pedals
Dancing across a spring breeze
You stay grounded
Sprouting without pouting
Always found the light inside and out
And made your own chlorophyll
Don’t be afraid to stretch out your pedals
Because nothing is more beautiful
Than seeing you grow.
Still, never still
I’ve seen you budding
You bloom on this southside
You catch eyes against all odds
You still peak, even if no one’s watching
Never the one to choose opting out
Your timing is so perfect
You know just when to stretch your leaves out
And show off
It’s in your nature
So be proud of your pedals
No matter the color, shape or size
Always remember, Every flower has its own purpose in the garden in the life we live

This is for the little black girls
In adult women bodies
Trying to move on up to the east side
Of elevation
Patching places they have no choice to
But to throw a little alcohol on it
And go because
Bills don’t get paid from beds that feel like therapy
Where self care gets minimized due to
Hectic schedules
Healing look likes it takes too much time,
And who got more of that
That has been wasted on
Constant repercussions
From mistakes made in teens
And it seems to be busting at the seams

This is for the little black girls in adult women bodies
Oddly, it sounds like a plot of Syfy
Or a remake of being 13 going on 30
honey it’s common,
Since some of us grew up
I’m households where tears were translated as fear weak,
Or feelings was a place you shall not speak of
So you’ve adapted to holding it in
Not using your voice which is magic
Such a beautiful genie trapped in a bottle
Cast away at the seas of forbidden convos
That only resurface before sleep
feeding on “what doesn’t kill us makes us stronger, of course
take a full course, eating at us Til we are dead inside and no one sees us operating on co**se course
Hitting life head on, tryna stay head strong
Til we collapse,
I’m here to tell you baby relax

And to be transparent
I’ve served a life sentence
Abrievated into I’m fine
Masked in I’ll make it through
But found myself buried in pain
Versus getting vulnerable with myself
Being honest with me
Is where I found my truth
To make your life the greatest movie
To hit the big screen
Start by Not by belittling the bloopers
Or embarrassed by cuts
Because the greatest stars have scars

This is for the little black girls in adult women bodies
Your breakthrough is only waiting on the demolition of the old you
You owe you
I’m hear you tell you
Your crown never fell
You never failed
you took in everything
Now it’s time to exhale
Hell, your safe haven awaits you , within
Even tho you may be down to your wits end
And never forget you can always excel
You spent so much time being hard on you
I want you to get micro soft with yo self
Reach that PowerPoint and never log off
You’ve been assisting the world
Time to see the woman that’s been waiting to be unboxed

This is for the little girls in adult women bodies
You have grown
