🏈 If you watched the Super Bowl, you probably saw the “Relax your tight end” ad about prostate cancer screening.
🔁 HOW OFTEN?
• If your PSA is low (1 ng/mL), repeat every 2–4 years.
• If your PSA is 1–3 ng/mL, repeat every 1–2 years.
• The sweet spot for screening benefit is ages 55–69.
• After 75, screening is generally only recommended for very healthy individuals.
✅ THE BIG TAKEAWAY:
You do NOT need a digital re**al exam to screen for prostate cancer. The evidence shows DRE has poor diagnostic accuracy as a screening tool — pooled sensitivity of just 51% and specificity of 59%. A simple PSA blood draw is enough to start the process.
So yes, you can relax your tight end. 😅
Talk to your doctor. Know your risk. Get screened.
ScreeningSavesLives
⭐️ You don’t need to wait till :
✌🏽Take 2 minutes to know your risk:
It’s not a diagnosis.
It’s information.
And information saves lives
✨Risk models like BCRAT (Gail Model) are recommended to identify who may benefit from enhanced screening.
Women with ≥20% lifetime risk should receive annual breast MRI in addition to mammography
MRI detects cancers that mammography can miss, especially in dense breast tissue.
