Twin Energy continues my ongoing exploration of representation and visibility within popular culture.

I’m always working to intentionally position blackness within a visual vocabulary historically dominated by nonblack ideals of joy, beauty, and peace. These works create space for our tones, our presence, and our narratives to bloom openly and free of stereotypes.

This sketch began as a single mirrored sketch, randomly sparked by a Twin Energy Pokémon card I randomly saw online. That playful reference opened a deeper conversation in my mind around duality, mutual recognition, and alignment. The paired flowers represent two paths converging. Two identities, two energies, and two lives in synchronicity. They point to kinship, reflection, and the power of seeing yourself in someone else. Or simply finding someone that matches you in a meaningful way. Twin.
