Baby doesn’t want to manipulate you or rule you, or any of the sophisticated things that we can do as adults, yet we somehow think that a newborn baby also has this intention. Newborn doesn’t know how to communicate its needs yet, so crying is its alarm system. Sometimes that need is just to be close. Babies and older children need a lot of closeness and a sense of security. For proper development and learning, these are overarching needs that must be met.
