Born and raised in Italy, Dario Monni has been steeped in the rich Italian food culture from an early age. In his hometown of Venice, Monni learned the art of preparing handmade pasta from his nonna while listening to stories of his grandfather‘s specialty food store. His summers were spent in rural Sardinia, where his father’s family worked as shepherds, cheesemongers and butchers, imparting onto him the deep-rooted value of the region‘s rituals, honest ingredients and dedication to an authentic craft.

“When making something with only two ingredients, everything needs to be perfect.  uses the very best flour, imported from a family mill in Italy since 1832. They are the last remaining mill to take the extra step of washing the wheat before milling the flour, and you can feel their extra care in every batch of dough. Tortello buys their tools from true craftsmen; from bronze handmade tools of Sardinia to wooden boards and rolling pins. Tortello is inspired by the generations of Italian nonnas and mammas who have been pouring their love into this craft.”

Toro is a Spanish tapas restaurant and bar that has been serving the South End since 2005. Created by James Beard award-winning chef , the menu features Barcelona-inspired hot and cold small plates, designed to be served and enjoyed tapas-style. The beverage program features classic-inspired cocktails and an eclectic, carefully curated wine list.

“Ours is a simple endeavor. We are a neighborhood restaurant doing our own thing with great ingredients and a lovely gathering of people. ‘Asian-ish,’ if you need a label. Just trying to do the simple things every day. Like being sweet to each other, saying ‘yes’, ‘welcome back’, and ‘thank you’ as enthusiastically as we can.

Chef is an honors graduate of Harvard College with a degree in Applied Mathematics and Economics, Joanne left a career as a management consultant to enter the world of professional cooking. Christopher Myers is the co-owner of Myers + Chang restaurant and Flour Bakery + Cafe with his wife and business partner, Joanne Chang.”

We’re keeping it in the family, partnering on the Myers + Chang Supper Club, which has a growing waitlist after quickly selling out.
