π¦ Mission: Cool Down the Summer Countdown! βοΈ
The school year is officially in the books, and we couldnβt let the kids head into summer vacation without one final, epic tradition. Our crews hit the local schools for the ultimate end-of-the-year spray down!
Honestly, we aren't sure who had more funβthe students, the teachers, or our firefighters.
Here is how the soaking-wet fun split up:
Ladder 1 took over Sunrise Elementary, bringing the high-flying water and maximum coverage! ππ¨
Engine 4 held down the fort at Dildine Elementary, delivering a premium-grade cool down to a sea of happy kids! π§βππ¦
The Official Verdict: No students, teachers, or principals left the splash zones dry. Mission accomplished!
We love getting out into our community and celebrating these milestones with our local schools. Thank you to the staff and students for having us, and for always being so welcoming to our crews.
Have a fantastic, safe, and fun summer, Cheyenne! πβοΈ

Cheyenne Fire Rescue responded Tuesday afternoon, May 26, 2026, to a reported structure fire at 2505 E. Carlson St.
Initial dispatch was received at 3:35 p.m. and CFR responded with four fire engines, one ladder truck, one Battalion Chief, and one support unit, totaling 19 firefighters. Engine 5 arrived on scene at 3:40 p.m., within five minutes of dispatch, and crews observed heavy smoke and fire coming from a three-story building under construction, behind multiple other apartment buildings. Battalion Chief 1 (BC1) assumed incident command and, given the winds, access to the construction site, significant fire conditions, and immediate structural concerns, directed crews to employ defensive firefighting tactics. This approach prioritizes firefighter safety while aggressively containing and controlling the fire. Additional CFR units and further requests for mutual aid brought more than 50 firefighters to the scene.
Crews successfully extinguished the bulk of the fire and adjacent buildings at 4:56 p.m. using aerial master streams, handlines, and coordinated defensive fire attack operations. According to the construction company for the apartment building, all workers are accounted for, and no injuries have been reported among civilians or firefighters.
Fire crews will continue to monitor the scene and address hotspots. CFR personnel remain on standby to respond to any additional smoldering hotspots. CFR's Community Risk Reduction (CRR) fire investigators remained on scene to support the fire investigation. Crews have maintained security at the site and ensured public safety.
CFR extends its gratitude to the following agencies for their assistance: Cheyenne Police Department, American Medical Response (AMR), Laramie County Sheriff's Office, Laramie County Fire District #1, Laramie County Fire Authority, and Wyoming Air National Guard Fire Department, and the Laramie County Combined Communication Center.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation by CFR's fire investigators.
Update (9:33 P.M.): Several crews remain on scene extinguishing smoldering areas. No injuries have been reported of civilians or firefighters. CFR investigators will continue to investigate the fire over the next several days. CFR is grateful for the following public safety agencies: Laramie County Fire District 1, Laramie County Fire Authority , Laramie County Combined Communications Center, AMR Cheyenne, WY, Cheyenne Police Department, Laramie County Sheriff's Office, and WY Air National Guard Fire & Emergency Services.
CFR has responded to the 2000 block of Converse, where the fire has been brought under control. Crews are still working to extinguish remaining hotspots. Please avoid the area.
