Happy to take the top step at ORAMM this past weekend 🥇
If you’re not familiar, ORAMM stands for Off-Road Assault on Mt. Mitchell (the highest peak East of the Mississippi, 6,684ft). The race doesn’t quite get to peak elevation, but we did climb 10k feet of NCs finest over 60mi of racing.
I may do a post on bike setup later if there’s interest, but the main takeaway was softening up my 34sc and Float SL. Therough and almost 30min long… smooth is fast! I used full travel, front and rear, but never felt a bottom out. Less arm pump this time around, so I’m happy with the setup 👍
As far as racing goes, the groups really came apart around 1.5hrs into the race. From there, I ended up by myself for the next 3ish hours until the finish. Not much drafting here, so I was content to ride my own pace.
still holds the course record on the OG course, but technically I have the record on the new (slightly longer) course now…
I finished up with a time of 4:29:09, sat in the river, and had a cold one with Paul. Now for an easy week before the late season push!

Always a good feeling heading home to see friends and family for the holidays, but riding trails I grew up riding is one of my favoirite parts. Especially when you can go rip with your brother. Enjoyed some leaf surfing today!

First ride on gravel? No way.
First ride on a gravel bike? For sure.
Won’t be the last either… Stepped back into training today with a sweet new way to explore, and it took me all of one ride to find a brand new road and view right out of town.
Turns out this one was a dead end, but it’s the spirit that counts?

And just like that, the 2022 season is over. Really wanted this one after some rough patches this season, and incredibly happy to end the season on a good note.
Time to hang the bike up and enjoy the next couple weeks of festivities… and I are 2 weeks (!) out from tying the knot 🥳
