Layla F. Bluefort, MSW Equips 992 Mental Health First Aiders in 2025

Named 2025 Adult Mental Health First Aid Instructor of the Year

Charlotte, NC — Layla F. Bluefort, MSW, a nationally recognized Mental Health First Aid instructor, closed out 2025 with a significant milestone—training 992 Mental Health First Aiders across 82 classes throughout the year.
Bluefort facilitated 58 Adult Mental Health First Aid classes, training 686 adults, and 24 Youth Mental Health First Aid classes, training 306 youth, totaling 427 hours of instruction dedicated to strengthening community mental health response and prevention efforts.

In recognition of her leadership, impact, and commitment to mental health education, Bluefort was honored as the 2025 Adult Mental Health First Aid Instructor of the Year. Her work has supported organizations, educators, caregivers, and community members in developing the skills needed to identify mental health challenges and connect individuals to appropriate support.

“We aren’t just teaching a course,” Bluefort shared. “We are building a safer, more compassionate world—one trained responder at a time.”
As she prepares for 2026, Bluefort continues to focus on expanding access to Mental Health First Aid training, professional development, and community-based education.
