Our @duarte_designs team enjoyed bringing this new mural to life at @uptown_550, a premier luxury apartment community in the heart of Charlotte, NC. This mural is to assist with way-finding, which is the use of signage, color, and other design elements to help occupants navigate a space. It can be a particularly important design consideration in multifaceted spaces like this to help residents and visitors while also adding color and joy to the area. Uptown 550 is steps away from the @uptown.clt’s finest dining, shopping, entertainment + more! and they offer an array of unique and luxurious amenities to enhance your lifestyle. Enjoy breathtaking city views from their rooftop at LEVEL 21. Unwind in their wellness center, featuring an indoor whirlpool bath and sauna. They even have two fitness centers to help you achieve your health goals. The Duarte Designs team creates to inspire, add color and love to neighborhoods and bring awareness back to the community. Melissa Martin Julien is the beautiful brain and heart behind Proper Flower and is an accomplished floral designer, event producer, and workshop facilitator.

For 10 years, Melissa was an integral part of the world-renowned Matthew Robbins Design team in New York City. There, Melissa produced and designed events at exclusive resorts and private residences from coast to coast and around the world from Japan to Colombia, France, Jamaica and beyond. After finding success in New York City’s concrete jungle, Melissa and her husband decided to head back down south to her hometown of Charlotte. In 2015, having always dreamed of starting her own floral design and production studio, Melissa opened Proper Flower.

In addition to event design, Melissa has also worked on and produced photo shoots, creating florals and still lifes for prominent books and magazines sold nationwide.

Proper Flower has been recognized by national and local press including , , Charlotte Weekly, and more!

It is difficult to explain ALL of the magic that lives within these walls and you really do you have to go and experience it for yourself. We can’t wait to hear what you find and see how each wall speaks to you 💫

Murals, Fiber Art, Paste Ups. Immersive Artwork and Unique Styles created by kind-hearted humans. 42 artists activated and transformed the space - 40 local artists + 2 international artists, ranging from ages 19 - 72.

The theme was "Bringing Light to Dark Places". As you walk through the space you will see a wide array of expressions for this theme and what it means to each artist.
