I’ve seen some of the comments and laughing emojis about Gastonia’s Juneteenth celebration in the Gaston Gazette post.

Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, the day enslaved African Americans in Texas finally learned they were free more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed.

It’s not about division. It’s about freedom, history, culture, and community.

Events like EbonyFest bring people together, support local businesses, showcase local talent, and celebrate an important part of American history.

The VKC Band is proud to be performing on June 19th downtown Gastonia. Let’s support the organizers, vendors, artists, and everyone working to make this event a success.
