I am inspired by my grandfather, Dr. Louis "Papa" Heyman, a pediatrician, who dedicated his life to caring for children and who passed away from dementia. I run races around the world on behalf of families and patients battling dementia around the world and in memory of those who lost their lives to this vicious disease.
Most people hear "Idaho Potato Half Marathon" and assume this story is about a giant potato.
It's not.
It's about sharing race weekend with my mom.
It's about checking off State #46 on the journey to 50 states.
And it's about using every mile to help fund biomarker clinical trial research that could change lives.
The potato just happened to make a pretty great co-star. 🥔❤️🏃♂️
