Also brought home this 2” cherry slab from Irion Lumber Company — 31” wide, 86” long, with a live edge and a natural void running down the middle that gives it a ton of character.

A slab this size would make a great coffee table, a desk, or a smaller dining/entry table — something where you want one continuous piece of wood to be the star instead of a bunch of boards glued together. The void could get filled with black or tinted epoxy to really make that line pop, or left as-is and stabilized with some bowties for a more rustic look.

Don’t have a specific build planned for it yet — if you’ve got an idea for what this one should become, drop it in the comments.

Made the drive up to Wellsboro, PA this week to Irion Lumber Company and loaded up on 100 board feet of 2” walnut and 130 board feet of 1” maple for some projects I’ve got coming up.

Picking out your own lumber takes a lot longer than just ordering it sight unseen, but it’s worth it — you get to see the grain, check for defects, and start picturing what each board’s going to become before it ever hits the shop. Excited to get this material moving on some new builds.

2.5 years. Snow, rain, and 100 degree days — working outside under a tarp because that was what I had.

This week, I got a key to my first shop.

AT Woodwork LLC is moving in. More to come once we're settled — but first, I have some people to thank.

To my clients — thank you for your patience while I finished up school and built this thing at the same time. You believed in the work before I even had a roof over my head to build it under. That means everything.

To my business mentor Tighe Crawford Bullock— thank you for seeing something in me worth investing in. This shop wouldn't be happening without you.

And to my family — none of this exists without your support. Thank you for backing me when this was just an idea.

It’s been a busy (but productive) weekend!

Wrapped up two cutting boards — just waiting on finish now. Put together a demo charcuterie board for a local business, and completed six WV outline plaques for SparkWV. Also got some maple milled up for an upcoming church sign, and spent time working on walnut gift boxes, lining them with oak for a clean, classic look.

Plenty more in the works — stay tuned!

From meetings to currently working on 2 out of 10 cutting boards for a business competition-one brick pattern end grain and one solid walnut. Also creating custom awards plaques for SparkWV. Long days, but progress is steady!
