After dropping the series opener, the Casper Spuds responded exactly the way resilient teams do — by taking the next two games and winning the series against the Oahe Zap.
Saturday night, the Spuds broke things open late with a six-run seventh inning on their way to an 11-5 victory. Casper piled up 13 hits in the win, highlighted by a three-hit performance from Kaeden Wilcox and big RBIs from Mason Westmoreland, David Denton, Andrew Witt, Elijah Reeves, and Hunter Stonecipher. Trae Santos delivered six strong innings on the mound before Jonathan Mendez slammed the door out of the bullpen. Your Banner Health Player of the Game was Kaeden Wilcox after his huge night at the plate and on the basepaths.
The Spuds followed it up Sunday with an 8-7 thriller to clinch the series. Down late, Casper answered in the eighth inning with clutch RBI singles from Hunter Billingsley and Brodie Carter to retake the lead for good. Billingsley finished a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBIs, while Carter, Wilcox, and Stonecipher all added multiple hits. Anthony Sanders battled through six innings, and Dub Chipman provided key relief to help secure the comeback win. Your Banner Health Player of the Game was Hunter Billingsley after a dominant offensive performance that helped power the comeback victory.
Now the Spuds head into their next series with momentum as they prepare to welcome the league’s newest team, the Cap City Aviators, to Mike Lansing Field.
