Self-sufficiency has become such a normalized right in modern Christianity that many believers have ignored one of the clearest ways God designed people to grow: submission to leadership.

We’ve hidden rebellion and isolation under the language of “I hear God for myself.” But hearing God for yourself was never meant to remove the need for leadership, accountability, discipleship, and spiritual supply.

This mindset has produced underdevelopment and immaturity in many areas of the Church. And unfortunately, because of the times we live in, many of the underdeveloped and immature now have platforms and influence.

Scripture says every joint supplies. That means growth is connected to relationship, structure, and receiving from others. Nobody is designed to develop in isolation.

I still believe in submission to leadership. I don’t believe you ever outgrow it.

Even the apostle Paul, who encountered Jesus personally and was undeniably called by God, was still brought into fellowship and accountability through Barnabas and connected to the apostles in Jerusalem.

Being called by God does not mean you no longer need submission, accountability, or leadership. If anything, the greater the calling, the greater the need for proper relationships, covering, correction, and spiritual supply.

If you’re called to something, you must learn to honor it in others.

If you’re called to teach, you must be willing to sit under teaching.

If you’re called to lead, you must learn how to follow and honor leadership.

If you’re called to host, you should support what others are building when building with integrity.

If you’re called to business, you should yield to the wisdom of those who have gone before you.

If you’re called to wealth, you must understand stewardship, generosity, and sowing.

If you want longevity in what you’re called to do, you MUST honor it when it shows up in someone else.

What you refuse to honor, you’ll struggle to carry.

If God has called you to it, learn to invest in it, celebrate it, and support it, and honor it that you may reap good fruit.
