A while back Mark Sauer Construction, Inc. was featured in Old House Journal. Our team has been using Adatron wood consolidation products for many years with great success. A freelance writer contacted me regarding our work and specifically about a historic second floor wood porch. We were successful in restoring the porch and preserving a great deal of historic fabric. The work was tedious. Our team textured all the wood epox repair areas with wood grain. The porch remains a defining architectural feature of the home.

Pilgrim Church, Pomona circa 2011

The Pilgrim Church Congregation has been a client of MSC dating back to 1994 when we executed the seismic retrofit of the entire church complex. When working on another project for the customer I noticed that the South facing stained glass window had a significant bow in-bound. The deflection was over 4”. This window is approx. 20’ wide and 30’ tall. The window was collapsing. After consulting with soils and structural engineers it was determined that the entire window required removal, new structural steel needed to be installed and the new steel was to be concealed within window decorative framework.

MSC brought world renowned Judson Studios on board. They removed and restored the glass panels. MSC removed all the decorative wood. Our team restored and replaced the window frame as needed in our shop. Structural steel was installed, and the restored wood framework was placed in the same location as original. Judson Studios reinstalled the glass panels and job done.

These 2 paragraphs do not do justice to the amount of care and craftmanship needed to execute this project.

A while back MSC replaced the dinning room floor at the Historic John Rains House in Rancho Cucamonga, Ca. John Rains, a former cattle driver purchased The Rancho Cucamonga and in 1859 planted 160 acres of grape vines. The vines were planted on a previous smaller vineyard dating back to 1839. This gives raise to the claim that this is the oldest commercial winery in California. Construction on the house was began in 1860 and occupied in the spring of 1861. The reconstruction of the dinning room floor was executed to match the historic fabric.
