Storms coming into Tawakoni in the next hour.

There are currently some strong storms moving out of the Eastern edge of the metroplex. We aren't expecting severe weather here in Van Zandt county tonight, but I'm watching just in case. Hard not to when you can see the big cumulonimbus clouds in the distance! Either way, these storms are making some racket currently moving East out of collin and Grayson counties heading towards Greenville and Commerce in the next 30-45 min, and currently a severe thunderstorm heading into Cedar Hill in the next 20 mins, which puts that storm on track for Terrell later on tonight if it holds together.

Slight risk of thunderstorms today, Tuesday 6/2.

Here is what you need to know:

What's happening: A weather boundary (an outflow boundary) from overnight storms in Oklahoma has pushed south toward the Red River. Because our air is currently so hot and humid, it's acting like fuel.

The timing: As we hit the peak heat of the afternoon, this boundary will trigger new thunderstorm development.

The path: These storms are expected to track southward directly through our region during the afternoon and early evening hours.

Main threats: While general thunderstorm activity is expected, the primary risk with these tracking storms will be locally damaging wind gusts.

Bottom line: It's going to be a classic hot, muggy day that builds up into some rowdy afternoon and evening storms. Make sure anything loose in the yard is secured before the wind picks up!

This line of storms developing in Central TX west of the metroplex and South towards the Hill country will be moving East over the next 12 hours. We aren't expecting strong storms, but it may rain and make some noise. As always, be sure to have a way to receive warnings in case they're warranted.
