When it comes to a thick, green, lush lawn, one of the biggest mistakes we see every day is improper mowing practices. Mowing the lawn like you’re preparing Augusta National may look great for a day or two, but cutting grass too short actually puts the lawn under a tremendous amount of stress. It weakens the root system and opens the door for w**ds, disease, drought damage, and thin spots. Taller grass (3 to 4 inches), on the other hand, develops deeper roots, better color, stronger turf, and a lawn that naturally handles heat, w**ds, and dry conditions much better. Just as important is keeping a sharp set of mower blades. Sharp blades cleanly cut the grass, while dull blades tear it, leaving the lawn stressed, ragged, and more susceptible to disease.

Keeping your lawn around 3.5 inches tall acts like built-in protection for the soil. The extra blade length helps shade the ground, retain moisture during hot summer days, and reduce the chances of the lawn burning out during dry periods. A thicker lawn canopy also helps choke out w**ds like crabgrass and other broad-leaf w**ds before they ever get established. Mowing the lawn under 3 inches may seem easier to maintain, but in reality, it usually leads to more w**ds, more stress, and more frustration throughout the season.

Sometimes the difference between an average lawn and one that stands out in your neighborhood is nothing more than raising the mower deck a couple notches.

Position: Applicator Technician / Mowing Crew Leader
Type: Full-Time
Pay: Competitive wages, based on experience
Seasonal Overtime Available / Plowing during Winter Months

We’re looking for individuals who:

• Show up on time, every time
• Take pride in doing the job right - the first time
• Have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Can work outdoors in whatever Central IL decides to throw at us
• Work well with a team and maintains a professional attitude
• Are looking for steady, long-term employment, not just “something for now”

Experience is a plus, but reliability and work ethic matter more. We will train the right person who wants to grow with us.
